Dr. Anshuman Singh Invited as Faculty at Lucknow Urology Association Programme on Penile Cancer

Dr. Anshuman Singh, Uro-Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon in Lucknow, was invited as faculty at the Lucknow Urology Association (LUA) scientific programme on “Contemporary Management of Penile Carcinoma”, held on 26 September 2026 at Hotel Clarks Awadh, Lucknow.

The focused academic programme brought together urologists, uro-oncologists, radiation oncologists and other specialists to discuss contemporary approaches to penile cancer—from early diagnosis and organ preservation to management of inguinal lymph nodes.

Faculty Talk: Pathology and HPV in Penile Cancer

Dr. Anshuman Singh delivered a faculty lecture on:

“Pathology and HPV: Implications in Managing Carcinoma Penis in the Current Scenario”

The session focused on the increasingly important role of tumour pathology and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) status in understanding penile squamous cell carcinoma and how these factors can influence contemporary clinical decision-making.

The discussion included the pathological classification of penile cancer, HPV-associated and HPV-independent disease, the role of p16 as a surrogate marker of HPV-driven carcinogenesis, and the potential clinical implications of tumour biology for prognosis and treatment.

A Comprehensive Scientific Programme on Penile Cancer

The programme was designed around the theme:

“From Early Diagnosis to Organ Preservation & Contemporary Groin Management.”

The scientific sessions covered the complete spectrum of modern penile cancer management, including:

  • Diagnosis, staging and risk stratification according to current guidelines
  • Pathology and HPV in penile cancer
  • Contemporary imaging for staging
  • Penile-preserving surgery
  • Partial penectomy: techniques and surgical considerations
  • Indications for total penectomy
  • Role of radiotherapy
  • Management of inguinal lymph nodes
  • Case-based multidisciplinary discussions

The programme also featured a keynote address by Dr. Sudhir Rawal, Senior Medical Director, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi, on current management strategies for inguinal lymph nodes in penile carcinoma.

Learning Alongside Leaders in Uro-Oncology

The meeting provided an opportunity for focused discussion with experienced faculty and senior urologists on an uncommon but challenging urological malignancy.

For Dr. Anshuman Singh, being invited to speak on penile cancer pathology and HPV in the presence of teachers, senior colleagues and experienced uro-oncology faculty was both an academic privilege and an opportunity to contribute to the evolving discussion around evidence-based penile cancer management.

Such focused scientific meetings are particularly valuable because optimal penile cancer treatment frequently requires careful integration of pathology, imaging, organ-preserving surgery, lymph-node management and multidisciplinary oncology care.

Specialised Penile Cancer Care in Lucknow

Penile cancer is relatively uncommon, and its management can be complex. Treatment needs to balance oncological control with preservation of urinary and sexual function whenever safely possible.

Management may include organ-preserving surgery, partial or total penectomy, sentinel lymph-node procedures, open or minimally invasive inguinal lymph-node dissection, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, depending upon the stage and biology of the disease.

Dr. Anshuman Singh's clinical practice includes specialised management of penile cancer and other urological malignancies, including complex and robotic uro-oncological procedures.
